friends & zealots!
Song of the Earth release week has arrived! wow!
a bulletin today to index a few timelies & recencies:
Song of the Earth Bandcamp Listening Party TOMORROW tuesday april 1st at 2p ET!
join me april 1st 2pm ET for a free early listening party to celebrate. we’ll listen together and chat, like in the chat window, about the making of the album. maia did one of these for the incredible coco album last year and she said it was “SO fun,” — i’m really looking forward to it
Profile in The New Yorker magazine!
author anna wiener wrote 7000 words about me and the new album for this week’s issue of The New Yorker. an overview of my whole career, as well as a snapshot into this particular moment — song of the earth, the legend of ochi, upcoming piano album, fatherhood, etc — and probably the best thing that anyone has written about dirty projectors so far? a true honor …
my favorite part of the article is a small moment anna captured when tim bernardes and i are listening to some WIPs and gassing each other up. check it out on newstands now !

Bank On lyric video
“bank on” — the most recent single from Song of the Earth — dropped just a few weeks ago and you folks are really actually kind of streaming it!!! wow, thank you! to give you another way to experience the song, we made a lyric video out of some drone footage taken by my brother jake and his buddy patrick brice of tulare lake in california’s central valley after the wet winters of ‘22 & ‘23. you can tube it:
supporters can download the track for free below the paywall at the bottom of this newsletter.

LIBRETTI, SHIRTS, VINYL —
David’s lyrics for Song of the Earth have been collected in a libretto, designed by David and Rob Carmichael. We’ve produced a limited run of 500 copies, and David has signed and numbered each of them (see below for indubitable proof). They’re now available for purchase on the Dirty Projectors online stores in the US of A and the rest of the world.
And — of course — we’re flush with vinyl and CDs! You can find them on our site, or at any reputable vendor, physical or virtual, of new music.
Two shirts, both brilliantly designed by Kyle Thomas (aka King Tuff), are for sale as well. T-shirts can be purchased on our official store (for US customers) or at the Ochre store (for international customers).
NEW MUSIC FROM MAIA!
We’ll leave you with another tune. Maia Friedman has an album of her own, Goodbye Long Winter Shadow, out on Last Gang Records on May 9. “Russian Blue” is the latest single — watch and listen below!
